• Confirmation
Program
The Confirmation Program at
St. John's is a two year course of study for young people
in seventh and eighth grades. It covers the formative
years of a person's life and thus allows more opportunity
to establish patterns of the spiritual life within the
individual.
The first year of the program concentrates very
heavily on the Bible and the nature of God as revealed
in the Creator, Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
The second year program emphasizes Christian
worship, the history and mission of the church, and
the application of the faith in one's personal life
and in one's involvement in society.
There may be retreats or extended mission projects
relating to Christian Spirituality, Personal Values,
and Christian Discipleship and Mission. Field trips
may include visits to New York City, Philadelphia,
or other places where unique forms of ministry
are encountered or where cultural or learning experiences
may be beneficial. Participants in the program
will have the opportunity for interaction with
other religious groups and faith expressions, as
well as performing service to the community.
